On-line invitation, I tried for months several Australian tour agents. I gave up and applied on-line. It worked and was so simple and easy.

Do it, New year period 2010. With only English I felt rude, but everybody was so kind, helpful and happy. Cheers Patrick 5am 2/1/2010.

The application fee has to be paid in cash - no credit facilities are available at the consulate. Staff members did not speak English. The consulate is only open in the mornings on certain days of the week. To avoid a second trip to collect the visas, we provided them with a self-addressed express post envelope and they sent the paperwork back to us.

Easy Russian Visa experience

I also took along accommodation bookings and travel in/out of Russia, but these were not required. The online registration made it very easy to process a visa quickly.
